The district has been conducting road maintenance of about 20km and is expected to be raised to100km by 2012. Four bridges and culverts were constructed and ten more are expected to be constructed by 2012. 40% of the water sources have been repaired and is expected to reach 90% by 2012. There has also been a programme to protect the banks of L. Kivu and 10 km worth of river beds. The district is also engaged in protection of wetlands
